The BUILD (Building Unbiased and Inclusive Workplaces Leveraging Diversity) program helps internationally educated architecture professionals gain practical experience and establish themselves in the Canadian job market.

BUILD participants bring extensive knowledge in Architectural Design, Construction, Engineerng Technology, and Architectural & Construction Management. They are ready to address your business needs with fresh perspectives and innovative solutions.
Get Started
- Submit a project here for the BUILD team to review.
- Once approved, you will be matched with a team of 5 participants.
- Projects can start from November 1st 2024.
If you have questions or need help drafting your project content please email us at build@riipen.com.
- Deliverables will vary depending on the project scope. At the conclusion of the project you will have assets that can be used to further your business goals.
- Given the short, remote nature of BUILD we require a remote project-based experience. If your project looks like a job posting, we can not accept it. Please provide a concrete scope for the learner’s work and limit their work to a specific project.
- We have pinned an example project template to this experience which you can use as a starting point. If you choose to use a template from our library, ensure that you have added as much context for your business needs as possible.
- Note: If participants are completing confidential work they can still submit work on the platform by uploading redacted samples, using the worklog feature, and writing a brief project reflection. In this case, we might also recommend that you have the participants sign an NDA before starting your project. You can use the Agreements feature to do this.

Project Examples
Learners bring a wide range of skills. Projects could include, but are not limited to:
- Design and Conceptualization
- Technical Drawing and Drafting
- Sustainability and Environmental Design
- Project Management, Scheduling & Resource Allocation
- Building Information Modeling (BIM)
- Construction Techniques and Materials Planning
Projects should be approximately 40 hours in length per learner and are to be completed over 3 weeks. Each project should require the contributions of 5 participants (200 hours in total).
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this program:
I confirm that I have read and understand the Terms and Conditions of this program.
I understand that I must provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to the participant team that is working on my project. I must be responsive to any questions, and check in on progress to help ensure a good result.
I will evaluate the participants' final project submissions within 5 business days, offering feedback that can be utilized by the participants to strengthen their resumes and LinkedIn profiles.
